Mr. Le Blanc:"Yes sir, and it was very embarrassing. I couldn't read them a story at night; a lot of times I wanted to."...Interviewer: And nine weeks ago you couldn't read?" Mr. Le Blanc: "I couldn't read a word." Interviewer: "Could you write very well?" Mr. Le Blanc: "Well, I can copy something, but I can't write on my own." Part Two - Mr. Le Blanc discusses the impact of the We All Can Read program on his reading and spelling skills(2 minutes and 7 seconds)
"The program they have is We All Can Read, and it teaches you the phonics, the sounds of your letters. And without knowing the sounds of your letters, you really can't read. And I'm reading, and I'm also spelling words I never thought I could ever spell."
Adult Literacy Instructor Discusses Improvement in Attendance
Mr. Dave Miller, adult literacy instructor, discusses how We All Can Read has helped his students and caused an increase in class attendance. (1 minutes and 4 seconds)
"In the past we have had problems from mid-quarter on with attendance. Since we implemented the program the beginning of this quarter, we have averaged about eighty-five to ninety percent attendance, and we are almost through the quarter. We think that one of the reasons that attendance has been so high is that the students are getting what they are looking for, they are getting a good, strong foundation in their ability to read."
